The Low Carbon Innovation Fund (LCIF) is a venture capital fund, providing equity finance for SME’s based wholly or partially in the East of England. LCIF co-invests alongside private sector investors such as founders, angel investors and/or other funds to provide finance to early and growth stage businesses in a variety of sectors to enable them to develop.
Cycle One of LCIF opened in 2010 as a £70m co-investment programme. Seeded by £20.5m of EU monies and matched with nearly £50m of private co-investment from UK and international investors, this fund is managed by energy and environment investment specialists Turquoise (www.turquoise.eu) who are currently working on the exit phase, the proceeds of which will be fed into Cycle Two.
Cycle Two of LCIF is due to open in 2017 and we would like to hear from suitable companies from any sector who are seeking investment to grow and develop and which match LCIF’s criteria. In addition to funding, where appropriate we may also be able to work with companies to develop their plans, reduce their carbon footprint and maximise carbon savings through their technologies, products and services.
LCIF is operated by the Adapt Low Carbon Group at the University of East Anglia.
